New Tygart
Flyer
Roundtrip Time: Choose 4 hour or 7 hour trip
From Elkins to High Falls of the Cheat or begin from
Belington for an all day trip (Sundays only).
This smooth climate-controlled passenger train has gained a reputation as one of the most exciting mountain wilderness excursion rides in the US. The 4-hour, 46 mile round trip departs at 11:20AM from the restored Elkins depot at One Station Square.
This ride features two separate mountain grades, an “S” curve tunnel, passage into a 1,500’ deep canyon with steep densely forested slopes, and crossing a high bridge over the rushing Shavers Fork of the Cheat River.
A ride of 7-hours duration traveling a total of 78 miles departs at 10AM from Belington each Sunday during the summer and fall seasons. This expanded trip includes the scenic Nova-Scotia Rocks area and many excellent views of the Tygart Valley River.
Both the 4-hour and 7-hour trips culminate at the inspirational “High Falls of Cheat,” an 18’ high, 150’ wide waterfall in one of the most remote & pristine settings in the eastern US.
So for a comfortable ride thru spectacular mountain
wilderness on a vintage passenger train, come ride along
with us on the NEW TYGART FLYER!
